The “Green Farms” standard confirmed by certification

The “Green Farms” program is a proprietary method of raising broiler chickens that includes 6 farms owned by Wipasz S.A. that meet the established welfare criteria and specific requirements of the program, such as:

• providing chickens with access to natural sunlight;
• feeding 100% plant-based feed with probiotic additives;
• heated floors for comfort and stress reduction;
• greater freedom of movement, perches, platforms, and other materials that enrich the environment;
• litter that allows scratching, a natural need for chickens.

The “Green Farms” program makes poultry farms safer and more environmentally friendly. The program also focuses on consumer health concerns, on improving work practices, and on educational aspects: a necessary change in attitudes toward animal welfare, among both breeders and the public. As part of the program, regular monitoring and inspection of conditions on farms is carried out.

STANDARD CERTIFICATION PROCEDURE

The program has been verified by Bureau Veritas Poland’s auditor Daniel Mitkowski. The certification audit was conducted at three locations owned by Wipasz S.A. and demonstrated compliance with the guidelines of the international certification body Bureau Veritas, as well as with the “Green Farms” standard.

We are convinced that if chicken farming was carried out entirely in compliance with the Green Farms standard and using such infrastructure, then all controversies surrounding the entire industry would disappear. The Green Farms project was developed at the Polish Chicken Research Center in close cooperation with scientists and practitioners. The entire breeding process has been thoroughly tested and monitored. Green Farms are the future of chicken farming,” says Józef Wiśniewski, President of Wipasz S.A.

“The audit confirmed that the Green Farms standard is a modern and comprehensive approach to poultry farming, which guarantees high quality production and compliance with accepted requirements. The commitment of management and key employees is evident at all stages, which ensures effective supervision and compliance with the standard,” concluded Daniel Mitkowski.

On the part of Wipasz S.A., the cooperation in the creation of the “Certified Green Farms Standard” was led by Alina Folga, Representative of the Management Board for Quality Management Systems. This is how she described the whole process: “Working on the creation of this proprietary program was an interesting challenge for us. Due to the many topics that the Green Farms standard describes, the involvement of employees who are experts in particular fields was required. This allowed for the development of assumptions and guidelines that confirm a holistic and conscious approach to chicken breeding. Teamwork was a key element in the journey of developing and certifying the standard. We believe that it is a systemic approach to food production throughout the supply chain that is the determinant of food quality and safety.”
